Canadian Forces Media Embedding Program

The objective of the Canadian Forces Media Embedding Program (CFMEP) is to inform Canadians about the role, mandate and activities of Canadian Forces (CF) task forces deployed on operations outside Canada.

CF task forces deployed in Afghanistan: Guidelines, Ground Rules and Documentation

The formal CFMEP in Joint Task Force Afghanistan ended on 31 July 2011.

Kandahar Airfield

Journalists who wish to embed with the Mission Transition Task Force (MTTF) at Kandahar Airfield must apply to the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) Media Support Center.

Kabul area

Journalists who wish to embed with the Canadian Contribution Training Mission–Afghanistan (CCTM-A) in the Kabul area must apply to the NATO Training Mission–Afghanistan (NTM-A) Media Support Center.

Once their embed request has been approved and they have arrived in Afghanistan, embedding journalists must sign the Canadian Forces Media Embedding Agreement and Ground Rules, which are available on line at the following links:

Other CF task forces deployed outside Canada

Journalists who wish to embed with other CF task forces deployed outside Canada, including Her Majesty's Canadian ships, may contact CEFCOM Public Affairs at any time before applying to determine the feasibility of their embedding plan and to get answers to specific questions.
